The Suryamitra Training Programme

A skill development initiative by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) aimed at creating a workforce for the solar energy sector.


Key Features:

  • Residential Training:
    The program is a 600-hour residential training course, spanning approximately 90 days.
  • Curriculum:
    The training covers theoretical and practical aspects of solar energy, following the National Council of Vocational Training (NCVT) approved module.
  • Assessment and Certification:
    Trainees undergo a written test and practical exam, and upon successful completion, receive certification from the Skill Council for Green Jobs or NCVT.
  • No Fees:
    The training is free for participants, with the MNRE covering expenses for boarding, course fees, and assessment.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Education:
    Minimum 10th pass with ITI certification in relevant trades like electrician, wireman, or fitter.
  • Age:
    At least 18 years old.
  • Preference:
    Given to candidates from rural backgrounds, unemployed youth, women, and SC/ST candidates.

Training Structure:

  • Classroom Sessions:
    First hour of each day for lectures.
  • Practical Sessions:
    Hands-on training in labs and sites.
  • Industrial Visits:
    At least three visits to medium or large industries and one visit to a 33kV substation.
  • Motivational Sessions:
    Conducted once every two weeks.
